V.3.5 - Brighter Colours, Better Kicks


The plan for the next release of Free Kick Underground was to take the time to give the game a bit of a makeover and to tackle two important tasks from the backlog.

Colours -  The first task was to completely redo the game's colour palette to make it look brighter and friendlier, and less of the dark and gloomy vibe it may have given off before.  This would involve updating the colours of pretty much every sprite and game object, so would need some dedicated time to just focus on that. 

Kick Meter UI - The second task was to redesign the way the kick's angle and distance meters were displayed. This was in response to player feedback where some were finding the circle not so helpful in measuring the angle of the kick.  It needed to be reworked to something that was clearer to the player and an accurate measurement of the kick's potential angle. So the UI was updated to a cone-shaped meter that rotates from the ball and adjusts when you apply power.
